It was revealed Ms Munchow was travelling with two other people on Surprise Creek Road in Mount Ossa, north of Mackay.
Those two people - a 50-year-old Mount Charlton man and a 30-year-old Mount Pelion woman - were able to get out of the vehicle and raise the alarm, however Ms Munchow was unable to make it out in time.
Mackay Acting Superintendent Mark Burgess told reporters Ms Munchow's vehicle was visible from the roadway but was covered in water when emergency services crews arrived at the scene.
'The vehicle had been swept away from the causeway and the amount of water flowing down there limited the amount of (rescue) activities,' he said.
