LONDON, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Rival semiconductor giants ARM and Intel have agreed to work together to manage networks of connected devices from both firms, Volos train station clearing a major stumbling block to market growth of the so-called Internet of Things (IoT).

Sara Penant, 28, from Caernarfon in North Wales, online taxi Dion and one of the horde of Wales fans crowded around the giant bucket hat installation on Friday morning, said: 'I'm excited.
There's such a buzz building around here, but slightly apprehensive about the game as well because obviously it's a crucial one.

"We see a significant acceleration in terms of how the market will grow in terms of the number of managed devices and the volume of data that moves through these systems," Himagiri Mukkamala, an ARM senior vice president and general manager for its IoT Cloud Services division, told Reuters in an interview.

Still, we sleep well on the sumptuous king-sized bed and in the fresh light of day appreciate the hotel's efforts to inject some stylish avian-related quirk into the interior minivan transfers design, typified by the bare lightbulb by the bed held in the beak of a wall-mounted bird sculpture, the golden egg chairs in the foyer and the banquettes housed in birdcage-style frames in the dining room.

Welsh fan Hywel Price, from Cardiff, said he was one of 13 friends who were set to miss the match against Iran because they were not allowed to board their flight from Dubai to Qatar due to an issue with their Hayya cards.

A pouter's paradise, but ironically given the hotel's name, I find it a bit dark and dingy - the only natural light comes from a small window in one corner (and the view is of a crumbling building next door) and creating a relaxing glow artificially is tricky.

The other contented-looking guests, taxi from Dion port to acropolis lounging on loungers and lolling in cabanas, are busying themselves with selfies and soaking up the August rays, which are pushing the mercury to the late-30s Celsius.

We parents, meanwhile, are taking the window this unannounced babysitting shift has afforded us to soak in the view, which is stupendous - an almost-360-degree panorama of Athens, including the famed Acropolis, which lies a couple of miles away.

Those who love their own reflection will no doubt be bewitched by the dark reflective surfaces that abound - the walls behind and in front of the bed are mirrored, along with the black door and dividing wall for the ensuite.

Throw in a circular bar, a couple of hot tubs and the option to order light bites, and the rooftop can stake a claim - alongside the price - to being one of the major lures of this hip 220-room property, the fourth hotel by Tel Aviv-born hospitality group Brown Hotels to open in the Greek capital.

ARM's recently introduced Pelion IoT management platform will rely on Intel's Secure Device Onboard specifications announced a year ago.
This will allow customers using IoT chips based on either company's products to manage them in the same system, executives at the two companies said in separate blog posts. (Reporting by Eric Auchard in London; editing by Jason Neely)

McAllister said today: 'I was always going to wear my rainbow bucket hat to today's game, regardless of what we heard back from Fifa, but I'm really pleased we've been able to force Fifa's hand Pelion sightseeing on this.

It comes after Former Wales captain Laura McAllister said she was among female football fans who were 'told to take off their rainbow bucket hats' at the Qatari stadium ahead of Wales' match against USA on Monday.

Britain's ARM, a unit of Japan's Softbank Corp, said on Monday it had struck a strategic partnership with Intel to use common standards developed by Intel for managing IoT devices, connections and data.

Most of the world's biggest suppliers of IoT chips rely on low-power ARM designs, including NXP, Renesas and Microchip's Atmel, while Intel, known for its powerful data-crunching processors, dominates the cloud data centre market, where IoT data are analysed and processed, Gartner analyst Bill Ray said.

We vow to rise early and reach the ancient site before the midday sun and the crowds and fail miserably, instead hoping on a subway train at around 11.30am and ascending the slopes to the pillared Parthenon and the other glorious monuments and sanctuaries in the former city - built in the 5th century BC - amid heaving crowds and in blowtorch heat.
