Illegal Premier League Streamers Hit With £360 000 Payment For Piracy

Facilitators of illegal streaming of games have been ordered to pay the league £360,000 for infringing copyright.
Three suppliers of pre-loaded Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) boxes were hit with the fines, while a further 10 pubs have also been order to pay a total of £93,000 in costs to the Premier League.
Neosat were the company who were hit hardest by the courts.

They were ordered to pay costs totalling £100,000 and cease the sale of the illegal IPTV devices.

Football for Pubs Limited and Pub Entertainment Systems were also targeted and had to pay the Premier League £90,000 and £77,000 respectively.

The Premier League are attempting to crack down on copyright infringement amid significant investment from Sky and BT into the rights to broadcast their games.
They have targeted sellers of IPTV boxes and pubs that access broadcasts of games on unauthorised foreign channels.
A Premier League spokesperson said: 'These actions are part of the largest anti-piracy campaign the Premier League has conducted to protect its copyright, and the investment from our UK live broadcasters Sky Sports and BT Sport.

'Like other sports and creative industries our model is predicated on the ability to market and sell rights and protect our intellectual property. 
'It is because of this that clubs can invest in and develop talented players, build world class stadiums, and support young people in schools and communities across the country - all things that fans enjoy and wider society benefits from.
'These injunctions and costs orders, and the recent supplier of IPTV boxes sent to jail for four years, provide further evidence to consumers and the pub trade that the sale of these devices is illegal.' 
Friday's ruling follows a case in December 2016 when a seller of Best Iptv Services devices was jailed for four years.
