When the internet first started, or first came into the general consciousness of most of the people in America it was very little of anything. I can remember playing some very rudimentary games according to the Nickelodeon television see series The Secret World of Alex Mack. I remember reading some really terrible articles about some of my favorite bands. But mostly, I remember being nonplussed about the whole thing. What was this thing going to do for me other than have me hunched over a desk reading low quality junk?

Well obviously the jury is no longer out over the internet and we all now and seemingly will forever live on the internet. It has made communication easier but additionally fundamentally different. The same could possibly be said about shopping and researching subjects of interest. It has made a wealth and selection of entertainment completely free. This last one is likely the largest shift for me personally as well as for a amount of people I know also. This is because aspects such as the film theater begin to lose their luster whenever you find that you may watch free full movies online. It becomes tough to rationalize the $12 price tag most theaters are charging currently whenever you could get new free movies online. Not that the largeness of the theater will not have its charms. If I can watch documentaries online, like those produced by PBS, why would I bother having a television let alone paying ever rising cable costs?

The Net is a vast wonderland of entertainment available any time you want it with little to know cost at all. There's a bad element to all of this as always, mostly that it has become increasingly difficult for artists and entertainers to receive money for the work that they may be doing. Still there is an upside as well. With the ease it takes to put funny videos online or your weird short films online nearly anybody can release their work as well as have it seen by a wide range of folks. As a result people are ready to check out things they might never have seen back when they were seriously considering how exactly to best utilize their precious entertainment money.

I think at this point it's best for the whole world to check out a whole lot of different things on the net from free indie films to short films, but to also take the leap and hit up the theater every now and again or perhaps occasionally buy a DVD. This seems like the best way to keep the movies I want coming and keep myself informed.
