Tim Minchin And Maia Mitchell Join Cast Of Disney apos;s The Artful Dodger

Comedian Tim Minchin and based Aussie star Maia Mitchell are set to feature in the new Disney+ Original The Artful Dodger.
The eight-part series, based on characters created by Charles Dickens, has already begun filming in reports .
Set in 1850's Australia, the drama is a spin-off from the famed author's Oliver Twist.

It follows the adventures of one-time teen thief Jack Hawkins, 'The Artful Dodger', 15-years after the story, told in the Oliver Twist novel, ended.
Now a grown-up, Jack is a respectable doctor in the former penal colony of New South Wales. But the 'Dodger' finds he can't quite escape his past.

The Artful Dodger series is one of a large slate of projects, worth millions, that the media giant plans to produce in Australia and New Zealand.
Queen's Gambit actor Thomas Brodie -Sangster, will star in the title role.

Meanwhile, famed British favourite David Thewlis (Harry Potter) from the Netflix drama The Sandman, will play Dickens' iconic Fagin character.
Fagin and The Artful Dogder were once allies, leading a gang of thieves in the slums of London.
Maia, 29, best known as the star of the Disney Channel's Teen Beach Movies, will play the starring role of Lady Belle Fox.

Tim Minchin, currently starring in Foxtel's Upright leads a supporting cast of Aussie favourites including Damon Herriman (Mr Inbetween), Wentworth's Susie Porter, Damien Garvey from Jack Irish and Kym Gyngell (Rake).
Other featured cast include Lucy-Rose Leonard (Nitram), Barons star Nicholas Burton,  teen actor Finn Treacy, soon to be seen in the Stan min-series .
The Artful Dodger is created by David Maher, David Taylor and James McNamara.
McNamara, Andrew Knight, Vivienne Walshe, Dan Knight and Miranda Tapsell make up the writing team.
